School of Leadership Enhancement and Development (L.E.A.D)

The L.E.A.D curriculum of study engages students to reflect upon their depth of character, integrity, personal life and discipline, service, spiritual gifts, and leadership abilities. All courses are offered in a dependable sequence to build upon each prior course offering. A certificate of completion will be awarded to each student who successfully completes the three-tier curriculum.


Mission Statement
: The Leadership Enhancement and Development School of Ministry exists by the grace of God to equip visionary church leaders and laity for success in Christian Ministry and Life Management while further advancing the Kingdom of God.

Vision Statement: The Leadership Enhancement and Development curriculum will engage students to reflect upon their depth of character, integrity, personal life, discipline, service, spiritual gifts and leadership abilities. Students will learn, graduate and emerge equipped for greater works of service in personal and corporate ministry.

Curriculum Tier 1 (Person)

P101-To Thine Own Self Be True

Before one can lead, he or she needs to have an understanding of self. This course is designed to help the potential leader examine his/her emotional and psychological profile. The leader will take an in-depth look at his or her family history, psychological profile, conflict resolution style, personal strengths and weaknesses and hang-ups.

P102*-The Leaders Personal Life

There are many challenges in maintaining balance in family, ministry and no-church occupations and social involvements.  The lack of balance can leave the leader feeling empty, frustrated, tired and unproductive.  This course will enable the leader to prioritize a busy life style.      

P103*-The Celebration of Discipline

Prayer, fasting, praise, meditation and solitude are necessary disciplines in a leader’s life.  This course is designed to help the leader develop these disciplines and keep the leader spiritually grounded.   

P104**The Character of a Leader

How important is integrity in the life of the leader?  Must the leader be pure?  How does the leader handle mistakes and sin in their personal life?  Character counts although all leaders are imperfect persons attempting to serve a perfect God.  This course will examine the attributes of a Godly Leader and the process of sanctification.

Curriculum Tier 2 (Service)


S201* Understanding The Holy Spirit

The leader cannot successfully lead without the power, prompting and counsel of the Holy Spirit. Having a proper understanding of the person, nature and work of the Holy Spirit is critical to the leader’s ability to lead.  This class will provide insight to Holy Spirit and how he operates in ministry.   

S202* Discovering Your Spiritual Gifts

Using the Network Curriculum, this class will help the leader discover his/her spiritual gifts.  Upon completion of this class leaders will be better understanding of spiritual gifts and better prepared to serve in ministry areas for which they are gifted.

S203*  Called to Serve- The Servant Leader                       

How can one lead and yet act as a servant? Servant-hood is the primary principle of ministry. This course will focus on the importance of serving before leading, review the various aspects of leading while serving and understanding the importance of submission. Students will be given projects where there will serve others.  

S220 Five-Fold Ministries: Prerequisite: S202

This course will focus on the five-fold ministry offices found in Ephesians 4:11.  These include: Apostle, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and Teachers.  Students will identify their own ministry office and gain understanding of the importance of five-fold ministry gifts to the operation of the Church.

Curriculum Tier 3 (Leadership)

L301 Conflict Resolution: Possessing God’s Un-offendendable Heart  

Leaders will at times be the recipients of unfair criticism, called upon to handle disagreements and conflicts.  This course will prepare the student leader to better hear others points of view, generate understanding, identify conflicting issues in conflict, consider options, mediate/resolve disputes, transform relationships, operate in unity and the ministry of forgiveness. 

L302 Twenty-One Irrefutable Laws (June 3 - June 24 2007): Irving Moody

Using the leadership theories of John C. Maxwell, this course will examine real-world experiences and offer life changing procedures that can be used in the leader’s personal, family and ministry life.

L303 They Smell Like Sheep

Effective leadership requires the leader to understand and minister to those they lead without sacrificing the role of the leader.  This course will help the student to develop the compassion, nurturing, love and balance towards those they lead.

L320 The Courage to Lead

What does it take to face opposition? How does one lead when unpopular decisions must e made? This course will prepare leaders to lead through good and difficult times and examine courage as a critical factor in the leader’s ability to lead.   

L500 Leadership Project

Students completing their final term will be required to participate in a practicum leadership activity demonstrating the integration of the principles in all three tiers.
